Project Prabhakshay is a pioneering initiative dedicated to sustainability and social impact through creative, environmentally conscious solutions. The name "Prabhakshay" is derived from two meaningful words: "Prabha," which translates to light, and "Akshay," meaning eternal. Together, they symbolize our mission to foster enduring positive change in society and the environment.

Upcycling for a Brighter Future

At the heart of Project Prabhakshay lies the innovative production of solar lamps, uniquely crafted by upcycling discarded plastic paint buckets. This transformative process addresses the urgent issue of plastic waste and provides a reliable and eco-friendly lighting option for communities that lack consistent access to electricity. By merging practicality with environmental responsibility, the project seeks to tackle significant ecological challenges while providing tangible benefits to underserved populations, and enhancing their quality of life.

Beyond Solar Lamps: A Multifaceted Approach

However, Project Prabhakshay extends far beyond the production of solar lamps. We are actively exploring several new verticals targeted on various social and environmental issues, with initiatives designed to drive positive change across multiple fronts. Launched in 2021 by Enactus at Motilal Nehru College, this project was born out of a recognition of two pressing needs: the growing problem of plastic waste and the absence of sustainable lighting solutions in regions grappling with energy deficiencies.

In response to these challenges, we developed solar lamps using upcycled plastic, effectively turning waste into valuable, life-changing resources. What sets our initiative apart is our commitment to social empowerment. The production of these lamps involves collaboration with underprivileged individuals, equipping them with vital skills and providing them with employment opportunities. This model not only lifts individuals out of poverty but also fosters a sense of community engagement and responsibility, enabling participants to improve their circumstances while contributing to environmental preservation.

In addition to our production efforts, Project Prabhakshay actively engages in awareness campaigns and competitions that promote environmental sustainability. Our dedication to this cause was recognized in 2021 when we were honored as one of the top 30 teams in the Enactus World Cup’s Race 4 Climate Action. This acknowledgment reflects our meaningful contributions to addressing pressing climate-related issues and highlights the impact of our innovative approach.

Moreover, Project Prabhakshay aligns with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Affordable and Clean Energy, Climate Action, and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
